Sponsoring  Pujas

Bodhivastu has two centers which make it easy to sponsor or support ceremonies to be performed on your behalf.

Although our regular practice is our most important root refuge, there are times and situations where things really get out of hand and appear to be too hard to process or handle on our own.

The Vajrayana has many specific skillful means to remove obstacles from our path that practitioners normally face. These obstacles arise on both worldly and spiritual levels and often need consistent cleansing. These purifications, along with reversal of negativity and assignment of protectors is critical for all practitioners, but not all of the practices can easily be accomplished by individuals at their own places of residence.

In Asia, it is common for practitioners and lay people to commission ceremonies to be performed on their behalf. In the west, we have very few avenues to get these ceremonies performed for various reasons. Among these are the expertise, knowhow and blessing power, numbers of people and required costs and logistics. Many of these ceremonies require specific capacities, ingredients and accomplishment to perform them properly. There are no large Buddhist communities here in the west, and when it comes to these types of ceremonies, the numbers of people accomplishing them has weight. Fortunately, thanks to our centers, resident practitioners, and affiliations we are able to provide you the opportunity to sponsor these ceremonies.

Butter Lamp Offerings:

Light dispels the darkness of ignorance, so offering lamps is an excellent way to gain clarity or to bring wisdom to the world or individual situations. They are commonly offered on behalf of those passed away who have no other way of accumulating merit. Lamps can also be offered when we lack clarity on what our actions should be.

The best lamps are made from edible oils or in particular clarified butter as it is also a food substance offering which provides a beautiful clear light.

Individual Butter Lamp Offerings at TKL

We do not yet have a Butter Lamp House at TKL for offering large numbers of butter lamps, but it is possible at this time to offer individual lamps. Butter Lamps come in three sizes, small, medium and large, the large will burn for at least one or two days.

Small: $5 / Medium: $10 / Large: $21

Larger Numbers Butter Lamp Offerings in Nepal

If you wish to offer larger numbers of butter lamps, please contact info@bodhivastu.org to make arrangements for this to happen in Nepal. Sponsors can offer many small lamps at one time, e.g. 100 or 1,000, (at Boudhanath Stupa) or several large ones continuously over a period of 49 days, for people who have passed away in order to light their way with wisdom and merit for the entire bardo period.
