The Naga King

and Queen

Since ancient times, Nagas have held a special place in many cultures and art history as well.

For many, they appear to be mythical beings with fantastic or elusive mystical qualities. However, for Buddhist practitioners, Nagas are one of the eight classes of beings we find in our environments. Relating with Nagas is a most excellent way to come into harmony with several elements of our physical environments.

By relating to Nagas via offerings of purified substances, Naga medicines, apologies, and aspiration prayers, many disruptions to our lives can be pacified while their assistance is exhorted. These activities can pacify diseases and draw down excellent good fortune, prosperity and well-being.

In order to help us relate with the Naga realm, we are planning to make a large Naga King and Queen statue which will become the support of our offering ceremonies. The designs are being made by Lama Rangbar in concert with a South Indian statue maker, similar to the ones who made the Mariamma Tara Ritrod Lomma Gyonma Statue that is currently at Trinlay Khachöd Ling.

When the design process has been completed and we have raised enough funds to support the project, Bodhivastu will commission the making of the statue.

Your Participation and Contribution

We can all form tangible and intangible relations with the Nagas by offering the support needed to cover the costs of making the statues, importing, and installing them in its surrounds at the northern edge of the pond at Trinlay Khachöd Ling near the spring head.

Repairing our relations with environmental spirits such as Nagas brings tremendous benefits for all involved and beyond.
